8 Best Upgrades To Get First In Minecraft Legends

Jan 22, 2024

Players can make their forces stronger in Minecraft Legends by picking the best upgrades from their Songbook to improve structures, allies, and more.

Upgrades are the main way players of Minecraft Legends can make a choice to strengthen their allies, improve their structures, or even gather better resources when picking the best ones to get first. The starting improvements players build not only expand their strategies but also determine what resources are the most important to collect when exploring. Players that select good upgrades early can make a stronger foundation that adapts to new challenges.

The two modes players could participate in, PvE against Piglins or PvP versus other players, might determine which upgrades to go for first. While Co-Op multiplayer with friends in Minecraft Legends has players share resources, allies, and upgrades, there are universal improvements that are always good to start off with. Gold, Stone, and Prismarine are the most common resources used to make upgrades at the Well of Fate's Improvement Hub.

As players follow the main story, they eventually are given the Improvement: Gather Iron for free, but this leads to other upgrades that could unlock new resources. Coal is an essential material for building mob spawners for Creepers, who deal incredibly high damage to enemy structures. These allies are great in PvE modes against Piglin Outposts, which give a good amount of items as rewards for their destruction.

Whenever players build an upgrade related to resource collection, it also enables Allays to harvest the material for them. Those looking to find more Coal in Minecraft Legends don't need to travel all the way across the map to a vein they already discovered in the Overworld to collect more. Instead, Allays can be assigned to go and pick up Coal wherever the player directs.

Power Towers are special host structures found around the Overworld that players can break down to get blueprints for their base. Ranging from Blast Towers that deal heavy damage to Piglins to Frost Towers that freeze enemies in place, these buildings are great additions to any base. This upgrade gives players the ability to break down Towers for their Core, but more resources will be needed to make the full structure later.

While players may already realize that a new mob spawner can be built with this improvement, that is not the only use for this material. Players are able to summon zombies after interacting with the Zombie Homestead once this upgrade is made, giving them great mobs to fight infantry Piglin troops or even an enemy Hero. Several structures, including the powerful Redstone Launcher, all require Redstone to create.

A Masonry helps convert a player's walls and structures from simple wood into Stone over time, boosting their defenses and overall health. The Expert Mason Improvement gives a 100% speed increase to this conversion while also making any building with an aura have a 50% larger effect radius than before. While an expensive upgrade when compared to others, this passive bonus helps players create a sturdier fortress than normal.

This upgrade especially helps during PvP mode, where enemy players might suddenly attack a base at any time. It becomes much more difficult for an opponent to breach a base's walls and destroy structures when they are heavily fortified through the converted stone.

Following in the footsteps of the Banner, this upgrade affects how many mobs players can have in total instead of just the amount summoned to their side. Piglin raids on the player's base can be huge assaults, so bolstering the mob limit helps players, in the long run, to contend against bigger enemy hordes. This Improvement gives players four more mobs to work with, while the next level up, the Large Flames of Creation, grants 10.

With the new spawners for mobs made with the resource upgrades, players might struggle to have enough allies and easily hit the maximum cap of rallied troops. An improved Banner increases the amount of mobs players can have at their side by +15. Additional resources spent to further evolve this upgrade boosts this number by +15 each time, building eventually toward a powerful army if players want one.

The Firsts are larger, better Golems that players can spend resources to awaken, acting as monumental allies that devastate Piglin hordes or enemy structures. By far the most powerful single units in the game, finding and using Firsts in Minecraft Legends gives players their best advantage in either PvE or PvP in equal measure. These creatures are found in the Overworld by searching for "???" spots on the map.

These goliaths, thankfully, do not take up any space in the player's mob count, even if they have already built the Banner or Flames of Creation Improvements. Players cannot interact with these creatures in the Overworld until the upgrade is built. It costs quite a bit of Gold to activate each of the four Firsts found on the map, so players need to stockpile this resource before interacting with these potential allies.

The most important upgrade to make first should always be Allay Storage since this increases the amount of resources players can carry. Spawners, structures, awakening the Firsts, and every Improvement from before all rely on resources to function, but players are burdened with an Inventory cap from the start, which can be increased in Minecraft Legends. This limits the amount of materials they can harvest from the Overworld until this upgrade is made.

Making this structure immediately gives players space for +500 Wood, +150 Lapis, +150 Prismarine, +150 Gold, and +500 Stone. There are additional levels to Allay Storage that increase these values further, but just the first instance helps players a lot when trying to construct extensive bases early on. Out of the best upgrades to get first in Minecraft Legends, Allay Storage should always be the one players go after when loading up a new game.
